Babylonian World Map

Babylonian World Map

Date Range of Writing: 600 - 500 b.c.e.

Written Language: Cuneiform on Clay Tablet

The Babylonian world map was discovered in a site near the ancient Babylonian city of Sippar by archaeologist Hormuzd Rassam. He was looking for evidence of the Biblical Flood and at the time he could not read cuneiform so dismissed the find an insignificant.

Later it was discovered that this map contained details about the mountain range of URARTU or mountains of Ararat as found in the Bible.
